About the Project

RMIG ImagePerf mesh is used to create a secure and striking bespoke cycle storage enclosure for the use of tenants within a privately owned underground car park facility in the prestigious High Holborn area of central London.

The bicycle and chevron shapes are created using holes of varying diameter on a triangular pitch. 3mm thick natural finish aluminium sheets are fixed to extrusion posts provided by Locker Architectural who also supplied an automated sliding door screen with key fob access.

About the Project

The former Press and Broadcast Centres for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games has become Here East, a new digital quarter for East London.

The complex is a 24-hour media hub that caters over 20,000 broadcasters, photographers and print journalists facilitating broadcasts to 4 billion people worldwide. It contains an International Broadcast Centre and a Main Press Centre.

White powder coated Broadway expanded metal cladding is installed to effectively conceal and protect plant and services around the top of the building. The structure of the mesh facilitates transmission of daylight whilst concealing services behind, and blends perfectly with the aesthetics of the overall design.

The same Broadway mesh pattern is also used internally as an aesthetic screening around rooflights.

About the Project

Gladstone 80/10 installed as car park cladding at Clarence Dock, Leeds. This architectural cable mesh was used to create a visually stunning and fire-resistant surface. The open area of the mesh creates a semi-transparent 'veil' effect which allows air to circulate freely.

Clarence Dock is a shopping and leisure centre in Leeds. It also has a large residential population in waterside apartments, and a significant number of business premises.

About the Project

Shortlist: RIBA Stirling Prize 2017

Sainsbury Exhibitions Gallery with Brocklebank 16/5 aluminium mesh ceiling. The stunning wire mesh ceiling for the 1000m2 exhibition hall perfectly complements subtle lighting while effectively concealing vents, diffusers and ducting, and providing easy access for maintenance.

The Locker Architectural installation team successfully tackled a number of challenges to complete the job within the scheduled timescale. The mesh was formed into trays and fixed into inverted aluminium angle frames minimising visibility of the supporting structure. These hinged panels lock into the sub-frame when closed and are fitted with an inertia system to check the swing of each panel as it opens. With panels in the closed position the visual effect from below is of a single, continuous expanse of mesh.

The Locker design team tailored the ceiling to fit the existing steelwork structure of the building using an aluminium sub-frame with hinged mesh panels. Anodised aluminium Brocklebank 165 wire mesh with an increased aperture (to accommodate the swirl diffuser) was used to reduce both weight and cost.

Mace, the main contractor on this project, were so impressed with the quality of workmanship that they awarded us ‘Contractor of the Month’. The customer and architect (Rogers Stirk Harbour) are both delighted with the finished product.
