About the Project

Chelsea Expanded Metal security screens at Highbury Substation, Seven Sisters, London.

The 3D rhomboid form of the expanded metal mesh screening was designed to match the etched-concrete sculptural wall on which it is fixed.

The brief was to continue the bold theme whilst not blocking light to the adjacent dwellings.

Chelsea expanded metal mesh was chosen as it can appear both transparent and opaque simultaneously, depending on the viewer’s perspective.

The Locker-designed framework was powder-coated bronze to complement the vernacular brickwork.

About the Project

St David architectural mesh security screening at Berth Cruise Terminal, Southampton.

The pre-galvanised mesh provides a secure knife-proof barrier to enclose port luggage scanning equipment. The wide aperture, herringbone weave of the mesh is strong but also semi-transparent, to provide a high level of visibility to security staff and cameras outside the barrier.
